Beyond the Veil

Science reveals a cosmos of infinite possibility.
Why then is there only one of each of us?

Where are we?
And what defines a universe?
The meaning expands forever,
With multiple dimensions,
Removing boundaries of space,
Where universes may multiply,
Beyond the speed of light,
Unreachable with travel,
By mechanisms physical,
Yet visited in thought,
When imaginations fly,
Yet if everything is possible,
Within a cosmos of infinity,
Is it really possible,
For things to happen only once?
Yet there is only one of each of us,
Unique beings of conscious thought,
With emotions fueling passion,
We grasp and hold the stars,
For understanding is imperfect,
As String Theory lies undefined,
Yet no definition stands,
Explaining what is life,
And much lies undefined,
As we can not see all things,
Beyond the veil of sight.
Past the universe’s walls,
And beyond sub-atomic size,
With no limits big or small,
In an energy continuum,
We are in freefall in our song,
For life is exploration,
And love the key to sight,
Unlocking hearts to see,
The source beyond the veil.

The Role Playing Game

Wherein lies the chaos,
We try to overcome with theory?
When so much tends to happen,
From so very few factors.
Take the weather for example,
It only requires heat and moisture,
To make unpredictable results.
Yet we are so much more,
Complex in all of our ways.
With so many different factors,
Defining who we are,
We have infinitely more potential,
Then just the wind and the rain.
What dice was rolled,
To make me who I am,
A man with as many questions,
As there are answers under the sun?
What made her who she is,
The Soulmate by my side,
With beauty and understanding,
Beyond my comprehension?
And yet we have many choices,
In all of the things we do,
Each motion creating motion,
Each word inspiring an action,
And each smile saving a soul.
For just in our very being,
Without willful action,
We are creating ripples,
Which affect the world beyond.
So we choose our own adventures,
In creating our own stories,
But are we rolling dice,
To determine what is at hand?
But we do each have a choice,
In where we place our trust,
For if it is not within God’s wisdom,
And His guiding hand of love,
Then all we have is chance,
Just the throw of the dice,
And hoping against hope,
That we may have good luck.

City of the Dead

This image struck me on the Internet.  It is a city abandoned in
the 1920s as the inhabitants were driven out by war.  Today I was
inspired by this image to finally write.

They are all around me,
Their faces do not move,
Expressionless,
Passing me in motion,
On their normal paths,
Not feeling emotion,
They gave into hopeless,
Becoming helpless,
Within pain deciding,
Turning themselves off,
Tuning into distraction,
Walking their paths deeper,
Without meaning,
Without mourning,
Seeing no purpose,
They keep to the code,
Seeing no meaning,
Working to pay,
Paying to work,
Wishing to play,
They turn away,
Like stars going out,
Souls go dim,
The star field recedes,
Growing closer to me,
The darkness impedes,
Its silence imploring me,
Give up,
Give out,
Give in,
Closer it comes,
Engulfing loved ones,
Closer to me,
Until the light goes out,
And my cry goes out,
Screaming into the void,
My soul receding to darkness,
My scream is silence,
Against a canvas of black.
And so I awake,
From my dream of horror,
Blessed by family,
Hearts on fire,
Relieved by love,
And loving life,
I set out to work,
With a new sunrise,
Passing faces on the street,
Expressionless.

Through the Looking Glass - An Interpretation of Oxygene 8 by Jean Michel Jarre

Time is only percievable looking through lenses of moments to see each other.
To step out of time, simply close your eyes...

Constrained by illusion,
And limited by our eyes,
We see life through lenses,
Each lens of a time,
Seen through a window
Of ages we pass through,
On our tethered journeys,
For everything we become,
Is already who we were,
Though at any given time,
We can only see a glimpse,
An image at a window,
Just a fleeting glance,
For time is a continuum,
Where old and new are one,
With each visible through a lens,
Yet profound truth persists,
In quantum timelines missed,
Our pasts combine with future,
Together in this room,
In journey from the womb,
Breathing in our truths,
In our sharing of the minds,
Together we will find,
We are unbounded,
Unteathered,
Unfettered,
Unfaltered,
For if we close our eyes,
Impossibility disappears.

Life

I have written about it in hundreds of different ways to thousands of people to learn how much I truly do not know.

Creatures of the Abstract

What is energy?
How do we define it?
Merely physical,
In forms of power?
Or with action,
In the things we do?
For a thought comes,
It is upon my heart,
I feel potential energy,
And then I write,
Yet when I write,
The energy leaves me,
Going into the world,
And other hearts.
There it remains,
In some dormant,
In others inspirational,
In some misunderstood,
Yet the inspired ones,
Led to their choices,
Lead unto action,
Multiplying energy,
Into the joy of life.
So energy realized,
Is all around us,
In the birds that fly,
And the things we do,
While potential energy,
Is reality realized,
When feelings convey,
To other hearts.
This is the energy,
That takes ideas,
From imagination,
Into real life,
Our magic of creation,
Our hearts' revelation,
Becoming fact,
Yet with distraction,
Hindering our action,
Are we become creatures,
Of the abstract?

The Chase - In Memory of Tim Samaras

I wrote this piece after reading National Geographic's recent article about the work of Tim Samaras.  I sent this to National Geographic with my thanks for their writing and they responded with sincere appreciation for my words.  This poem is in honor of him, his son Paul, and friend Carl who were fellow researchers involved in Tim's "Twistex" organization.  They died studying the largest tornado ever recorded which occurred May 31, 2013 near El Reno, OK.  This wildly unpredictable twister swelled to over 2.6 miles in diameter and changed directions overtaking their car.  This video is from that tornado, but from an unknown source.  I have placed it here as it was the best example of the tornado I could find capturing its unpredictable strength, behavior, and violence.

Life and death converge,

Between Heaven’s tears,

And the fury of Hell,

While Earth shudders,

Before a dark terror,

A screaming howl,

Without a voice,

Shredding the land,

And shredding the mind,

With fear before it,

And nothing behind,

Yet fear confronted,

Is mystery confounded,

For he stood in its path,

To gain understanding,

He stood in its wrath,

To learn the answer,

He ran towards danger,

To push us to safety,

Confronting death,

To give us life.
