For Stephen Hawking

In spaces between the day and the night,
He traveled beyond dark matter and light,
Traveling to places he could not reach,
Returning with knowledge the world to teach,
When the physical took the time from his clock,
He vowed with his mind he would not stop,
 Expounding reality beyond our dreams,
Earning respect and the world’s  esteem,
And looking into the vacuum of space,
He found energy in every place,
Finding in faith what the eye could not see,
With his mind defying what could not be,
 Fabric of space bending,
 Time never ending,
 From particles to dimensions,
 From thoughts to intentions,
 Exploring,
 Imploring,
 Believing
 Receiving,
And if energy cannot be destroyed or created,
In this final thought I am elated,
Our friend the Explorer a gift did give,
Through our hearts he continues to live.
