Humbled

Here upon the shore,

I gaze out across the ocean,

Uncalming dark upon the waters,

Rolling in anticipation,

Dark clouds beneath the heavens,

Black storm upon the horizon,

Silhouetted by continuous lightning,

As a chilling breeze touches my heart.

I stand humbled.

The cascade never ceases,

The falling of Niagara,

Within never ending thunder,

Felt in the ears and the bones,

Filling the air with apprehension,

Which the rock beneath does feel,

The birds watch safely suspended air,

While the river dies to be born again.

I stand humbled.

Amidst greatness I find a small treasure,

Concealed by blades of grass,

Scarcely the head of a pin,

Yet crafted in exquisite detail,

An orchid as distinct as a crystal,

Yet delicate as painted by an artist,

A treasure to the wandering soul,

Easily missed by the heart in haste.

I stand humbled.

All this as Earth hurls through darkness,

Against an infinity painted by energy,

Which is never in the same place or form,

For such is the nature of the subatomic,

Yet Earth seems firm beneath our feet,

Purposely placed and perplexing,

By the Creator who first dreamed everything,

Yet is not a dream the energy of thought?

I kneel humbled.
